Welcome to Ikusasa LeAfrika

Ikusasa LeAfrika Foundation (ILAF) is a non-profit organisation based in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. It was founded by Dr Zweli Mkhize who is also the chairperson of ILAF. ILAF was established with the aim of contributing to the social and economic development of marginalized communities. Our focus is to see community programmes become self-sustainable without undue reliance on government.

What We Do

Agriculture

The agriculture programme creates community based agricultural hubs in Poultry Farming, Fish Farming and Vegetable Farming. Ikusasa LeAfrika Foundation intervenes through training of communities, building of broiler houses, facilitating procurement of supplies and creating market linkages. Read More

Education

The regeneration sub-programme has two focus areas. The first area is the development of learning infrastructure similar to the model used for the Ndumo Regeneration Project in the north –east of the KwaZulu-Natal province. The second area is the mobilization of professionals to contribute to the enhancement of education in their areas. The forum for professionals will also contribute to the youth development programme. The youth development programme focuses on youth leadership development and entrepreneurship development. Our main objectives include creating new youth-run businesses, providing leadership training for youth, increasing participation of youth in the economy and reducing levels of unemployment. Read More
